Stands about 800mm tall and 300mm wide, this is a new line of work I am now exploring featuring the use of modern materials on an ancient material being ancient kauri.
The dragon scale features give a hue of blue to purple flash which I use on the natural wild surfaces, also has ” shou sugi ban ” to enhance the grain
This piece has a bearing on its base so it rotates making it an interactive piece
Made from an ancient kauri root, 32,000 yrs old with all the natural edges finished in a bronze virtigris patina.
It measures 17″ x 12″ or 425mm x 300mm.
This was a very hard piece to make as it has all of the natural perimeter intact.
It took working on 3 different pieces to get this one to work.
Made from an ancient kauri root burl and has a bearing on its base.
It’s an interactive sculpture in the shape of a dragon’s egg.
Stands at 400mm x 150mm wide.
French polished
Natural features are finished with a bronze vertigis patina.
Made for ancient kauri and stands at 28″ x 9′ wide or 640mm x 225mm wide.
Features natural areas with French polished surfaces.
Carved into the shape of a large freestanding koru approx 450mm x 450mm and 100mm deep.
The koru is a symbol of new beginnings and new life. Made from ancient kauri root burl, french polished.
