Made from ancient kauri measuring 10′ x 8′ dia, or 250mm x 200 mm dia.
This piece has beautiful root burl grain with bronze vertigris finish on the natural surfaces.
Stands about 800mm tall and 300mm wide, this is a new line of work I am now exploring featuring the use of modern materials on an ancient material being ancient kauri.
The dragon scale features give a hue of blue to purple flash which I use on the natural wild surfaces, also has ” shou sugi ban ” to enhance the grain
This piece has a bearing on its base so it rotates making it an interactive piece
Made from an ancient kauri root, 32,000 yrs old with all the natural edges finished in a bronze virtigris patina.
It measures 17″ x 12″ or 425mm x 300mm.
This was a very hard piece to make as it has all of the natural perimeter intact.
It took working on 3 different pieces to get this one to work.
This piece is a stunner, made from ancient kauri root stock, has a ” shou sugi ban ” process where the wood has been burned and then sanded and polished to bring out deep rich colour.
It has a void which runs thru the center of the piece making a unique feature.
Stands 19″ x 12″ dia or 780mm x 300mm, with a bearing on the base so it rotates making this an intereactive sculpture, finished with a french polish
This is an Ovoid with a natural void thru the center making an it an amazing feature.
Made from a branch of the Puriri tree, has retained its wild edge and has been french polished.
It sits on a bearing so it rotates making it an interective piece.
The tree is home to the puriri moth which is a large bright green moth. This is one of my favourites

French polished
Natural features are finished with a bronze vertigis patina.
Ancient kauri sphere rotates on a bearing, this piece is hollow and could be used as a cremation urn.
Large, round French polished piece measuring 14″ x 14′ diameter or 350mm x 350mm.
The wood grain is from the trunk of the tree.
Made for ancient kauri and stands at 28″ x 9′ wide or 640mm x 225mm wide.
Features natural areas with French polished surfaces.
Carved into the shape of a large freestanding koru approx 450mm x 450mm and 100mm deep.
The koru is a symbol of new beginnings and new life. Made from ancient kauri root burl, french polished.
